GENERAL FAQ
Carrot is a venture studio. Rather than fund existing companies, Carrot forms and finances new AgTech companies.

Venture studios have been shown to increase speed to market and the chance of commercial success, relative to independently founded startups.
By cofounding a company with a venture studio, technical inventors benefit from the resources and experience of a whole team dedicated to the success of the new company.
For each new company formed, Carrot recruits leadership, provides dedicated support on business planning and financial forecasting, provides financing to the newco, ongoing governance and back office support.
FOR RESEARCHERS & IP OWNERS
We focus on AgTech. We will evaluate a wide range of innovative and scalable technologies connected to the production, manufacturing, logistics and distribution of food and agricultural products.
We look for technologies where proof of concept has been established, and where revenues can be generated within about 2 years.
- Ideally, the technology has been demonstrated to work in a target market application (established proof of concept).
- Capital intensive technologies and those with a long regulatory pathway are excluded.
- We exclude technologies focused on cannabis production.
No. We welcome the opportunity to review technology developed anywhere, but the companies we form must be headquartered in Canada, and the application of the technology must have relevance to the Canadian agricultural sector. If you think we might be a fit, we encourage you to Express Interest.

No. Our value proposition is combining great technology with experienced leaders in new companies that we form.
If you see the value proposition of working with a venture studio to accelerate the commercialization of your invention, Carrot may be a good fit for you.
For existing companies, Carrot can be a good option to spin out either a non-core asset or into a non-core field of use, such as agriculture or food, to build equity in parallel to the core business without detracting from the primary market focus.

While each new company we start is different, our criteria and approach are the same. We’re in the business of starting new AgTech companies with all the ingredients for successful market entry within around two years of company formation.
